Ripper
Iron Maiden has an iconic mascot named Eddie who has appeared on their album covers since the beginning. On each cover, he is depicted in a different time period. In his most recent appearance on the 2015 The Book Of Souls album cover, Eddie is a mummified Mayan citizen. I chose this as an opportunity to place him in Whitechapel, London in 1888 as Jack the Ripper.

For the images used on the outside and inside of the album I referred to vintage newspapers to transform Jack The Ripper into Eddie. For the cover I digitally illustrated Eddie about to stab a women with handwritten type between them spelling “RIPPER” for the album title. Below that I used, Iron Maiden’s signature typeface for their name. The back features Eddie sneaking away into the shadows with a mischievous grin on his face as two men gather to investigate his strange behavior.
